In alignment with Impact NGO’s core mission to build sustainable infrastructure that supports education and healthcare in rural communities, the transformation of Saint Augustine’s Nursery and Primary School in Tiko stands as a shining example of our commitment to empowering communities through quality education. This project, set in the heart of Saint Joseph’s Parish on Burma Street, Tiko, within the Diocese of Buea, Republic of Cameroon, transitioned the school from its previously dilapidated state into an ultra-modern facility designed to foster effective knowledge dissemination and holistic student development.

Thanks to the visionary leadership of the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea and the generous contributions of benefactors, including a heartfelt donation made in memory of Sandy, a devoted teacher from Cincinnati, Ohio, by her husband, we have successfully inaugurated the new facility on December 17, 2022. This remarkable endeavor, which cost approximately 93 million Francs CFA, has not only revitalized the school’s infrastructure but also embodied the spirit of community and international solidarity.

The newly erected structure, boasting 12 classrooms, four staff offices, eight toilets for pupils, four for teachers, and an under-construction playground, represents a physical manifestation of Impact NGO’s vision. The Bishop of Buea, emphasizing the importance of the school as a beacon of hope and opportunity, called upon the staff and administrators to utilize the new facilities to provide comprehensive education and care for the pupils, particularly those who previously lacked access to suitable learning environments.

This project underscores our belief that education is a cornerstone of community development and individual empowerment. It reflects our dedication to not just constructing buildings but creating environments where children can learn, grow, and thrive free from the constraints of noise, dust, and weather disruptions that previously marred their educational experiences.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all benefactors, especially those who, moved by the plight of Marian Primary School’s pupils, have generously supported this cause. Their contributions have not only facilitated the construction of this exemplary educational facility but also have sown the seeds for a brighter future for the children of Tiko and the surrounding communities.

As we celebrate the completion and inauguration of Saint Augustine’s Nursery and Primary School, we remain committed to our mission and vision, inspired by the transformative impact of this project and motivated by the potential to replicate its success in other communities in need.

The transformation of Saint Augustine’s Nursery and Primary School from a dilapidated structure into an ultra-modern educational facility is a testament to the power of community and generosity. The inauguration of this state-of-the-art building not only marked a new chapter in the school’s history but also in the lives of its students and teachers. Six months after the inauguration, the positive impact on the educational environment and the overall spirit of the school community is evident. The before and after scenarios, vividly captured in the linked videos, showcase the remarkable journey from the initial challenging conditions to a well-equipped, conducive learning environment.
