The one-block story of the ultra-modern structure erected to host Saint Augustine’s Nursery and Primary School
Aligned with Impact NGO’s mission to bolster education and healthcare through sustainable infrastructure in rural areas, our work with Saint Augustine’s Nursery and Primary School in Tiko, Cameroon, exemplifies our dedication to enhancing communities. Nestled within Saint Joseph’s Parish on Burma Street and under the Diocese of Buea, this initiative transformed a once-dilapidated school into a beacon of modern education, aimed at promoting effective learning and comprehensive student growth.
The project’s success hinged on the foresight of the Diocese of Buea’s Bishop and the generosity of donors, notably a poignant gift in memory of Sandy, a dedicated teacher from Cincinnati, Ohio, by her spouse. Officially opened on December 17, 2022, this effort, costing around 93 million Francs CFA, not only rejuvenated the school’s infrastructure but also epitomized community and global unity.
The new structure features 12 classrooms, four offices, eight student toilets, four staff toilets, and an in-progress playground, embodying Impact NGO’s vision. The Bishop of Buea highlighted the school’s role as a hub of hope and urged staff to leverage these facilities for the betterment of students, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.
This endeavor affirms our belief in education as pivotal for community and personal empowerment, focusing on creating spaces conducive to learning and development, free from prior hindrances like noise and dust.
We are deeply thankful to all supporters, especially those touched by the situation at Marian Primary School, whose contributions have been instrumental in erecting this model educational establishment, paving the way for a hopeful future for Tiko’s children and beyond.
